Dublin is the capital city of Ireland. It is Ireland's number one tourist destination with a population of over 1 million people. Here are some places to see and things to do:
Trinity College
Trinity College is the oldest university in Ireland. It was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth of England. It's library contains the Book of Kells and Brian Boru's harp.
The GPO
The GPO in O'Connell Street was built nearly 200 years ago. During the 1916 Easter Rising it was the headquarters of the rebels. Padraig Pearse read the Proclamation of the Irish Republic from its steps in 1916. Today its the headquarters of An Post.
Croke Park
Croke Park is the principal stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) Irelands biggest sporting organisation. The stadium is in the heart of the city, a 15 minute walk from the main street (O'Connell Street). It has a capacity of 82,300.
Dublin Zoo
Dublin Zoo is the largest zoo in Ireland and one of Dublin's most popular attractions. It was opened in 1831. It covers over 24 hectares (59 acres) of phoenix park and it was visited in 2010 by over 963,000 visitors.
